Demolition
We started demo once all of the junk was removed. We are estimating the cost of removal of the debris at between $600 and $1000. As you can see, we gutted the place. Demo isn’t hard, but it is time consuming, and makes a heck of a mess. We will start replacing most of the floor soon.
Paul Says
As Monty says, demolition is not hard. However, that can be a problem! You would not believe how easy it will be to turn your renovation project into a nightmare. Engineers call it "Scope Creep". It is so easy to get started with the demolition, notice some additional problem and think to yourself "Since we have the wall open anyhow we may as well..." The next thing you know you have turned a small project you could do in a weekend or two into something that will take weeks.
Your helpers, especially with a couple of beers in them, are even more likely to do this. You have to watch them like a hawk and keep a really firm thumb on them.
You will notice the tools pictures include a reciprocating saw. It's a great tool, but be careful how you use it. It cuts fast and that blade will reach in a long way. It's real easy to cut things you didn't plan to cut. There are lots of "funny" stories about guys that got a little carried away with one of these.
